Knowledge and science constitute a fundamental element of social development in every region. In total, in 19 Lodz higher education schools — 6 public and 13 non-public ones — there are over 76 thousand students, including nearly 6,2 thousand foreigners, and each year nearly 20 thousand graduates receive a degree.

By co-creating the academic world in Lodz, you will be shaping the identity of the city. You will become a representative of the community whose voice is very significant in Lodz. Primarily, however, you will be given a chance to study in higher education schools with outstanding teachers, great teaching facilities which are placed higher and higher in academic rankings. The activity of city authorities focus on the development of Lodz as a knowledge-based, innovative centre driven by new technologies, but most of all, as an attractive place to live and work for young and talented people.

Education base in Lodz consists of 19 higher education schools — 7 public and 12 non-public ones, providing a perfect place for development for students of liberal arts and the sciences as well as for artists. For years, The University of Lodz, Lodz University of Technology or Medical University of Lodz have enjoyed high credibility among students who highly value the conditions of studying and possibilities to find a job in Łódź. They have outstanding teachers and great teaching facilities. Artistic souls have a possibility to start their careers in art schools: Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music, Władysław Strzeminski Academy of Art, and Leon Schiller Film School in Lodz, among the graduates of which are famous filmmakers, among others, Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polański, Krzysztof Zanussi, and Krzysztof Kieślowski.
