Lodz is one of the most important cultural centres in Poland. There are numerous museums, galleries, theatres, cinemas as well as a philharmonic. More and more often Lodz attracts with its renovated tenement houses and residences of industrialists — monuments of Art Nouveau and eclectic architecture as well as exceptional museums. Among these, it is worth mentioning Poland’s only Film Museum, Museum of the City of Lodz, Museum of Sewers called “Dętka”, Central Museum of Textiles, Museum of Art ms and ms2 with Europe’s unique collection of modern art.
Europe’s unique palace and industrial complexes, e.g. the Charles Scheibler complex in Księży Młyn is a great tourist attraction. It is not possible to ignore the symbol of the city, that is, the palace of Israel K. Poznański, in which there is currently the Museum of the City of Lodz, and next to it there is a vibrant Manufaktura shopping centre. In order to get to know the film traditions of Lodz, one must got to the famous Film School, Se-ma-for Animation Museum, Film Museum or take a walk through the Walk of Fame at Piotrkowska.
International festivals such as Four Cultures Festival, Lodz Ballet Meetings, Cinergia Forum of European Cinema, International Festival of Comics and Games, International Triennial of Tapestry, Explorers Festival, Lodz Design Festival, Light.Move.Festival, Soundedit International Festival of Music Producers or International Photography Festival.
A great tourist attraction is Piotrkowska — a representative street in the city which you simply must visit. This is a well-known and Europe’s longest (4.2 km) trade and entertainment route with hundreds of pubs, clubs and restaurants where there is something for everyone.
In OFF Piotrkowska — currently the most fashionable point at the cultural map of Lodz — there is a space created for original clubs, cafes, exclusive boutiques, fashion designers’ showrooms, exhibitions and concerts. This way, old factory walls become a place for the development of culture, art and creative business.
A perfect idea to spend free time in Lodz can be a trip along murals in Lodz, already famous all over the country and in the world. Some think that Street Art is not art. However, after coming to Lodz and visiting Urban Gallery of Street Art, everyone should dispel the doubts. Large-format painting, created directly on building elevations by the world’s greatest artists in this field appeared in Lodz thanks to the Urban Forms foundation. Thanks to this group of committed fiends, Lodz is known for its street art already all over the world, and the result of their activity is the tourist route dedicated to Lodz murals.
There are over 30 large-format paintings along the route. The route does not have a fixed tour route. By using a map, you can choose your own, most optimal route, depending on in which district you start. Actually, we move around a large gallery which the city is.
